Time has passed but shadows still linger.
Standing on the shore watching a lake
A lake where nothing seems really fake
Leaning on a tree bounded to break
For leaning for years not really awake
I feel a heavy presence surrounding me
Of people coming and going so silently
Trying one at a time to get part of the
Sip of life that would bring them eternity
I hear voices, I hear them say
I hear them cry or shout, laugh or pray
Some seem to wait, some found a way
Disturbing a sleeping me day by day
I open my eyes and take a glance
I see sadness but I also see romance
Tempted inside, I long to seize a chance
And follow the lead of my leader for a dance
Then dark memories fly back to my mind
Florid with explanations I can’t seem to find
Yet strong memories that close my eyes blind
And shut away the rest of my senses combined
Time has passed but shadows still linger
While I seem to have it wrapped around my finger
I feel my white angel at my ear like a ringer
For me to open up and put away my stinger…
Still standing on the shore watching the same lake
Still leaning on the same tree still bounded to break
Watching life passing by full of bites to take
Wonder if I’ll wake before my tree comes to break.
